NEBOSH selected Microsoft SharePoint 2010 as their new Intranet platform and asked PSP to produce a functional specification outlining the benefits for the Intranet development. NEBOSH required greater control over their future developments, including the need to scan so as to reduce the administration, handling and archiving of paperwork.

NEBOSH Intranet requirements were:

  • Provide an Intranet interface to employees.
  • Ability to scan documents directly into SharePoint.
  • Document management system.
  • Workflow functionality to reduce current manual processes.
  • Integration with NEBOSH's finance system, allowing the pulling of data into SharePoint 2010 for display.


NEBOSH needed to improve their operational processes and wanted a solution that would streamline their document management and handling as well as making it more efficient.

Before the project, NEBOSH had thousands of documents stored in hundreds of folders within SharePoint. We put forward a number of ideas, initiatives and recommendations to NEBOSH. These recommendations included the idea of installing integrated Scanning Software within the SharePoint Document Libraries, enabling NEBOSH to scan documents directly to a library, tag with relevant criteria and save them quickly and easily.

Once confirmed, our Business Analysts worked with the Development team to provide a functional specification. PSP offered a design concept for the Intranet based on the NEBOSH brand.

We provided wireframe mock-up examples of the areas under development, ensuring SharePoint 2010 functionality was utilised.

Additional services included the development of a custom web part to work within SharePoint to enable NEBOSH to connect to their Navision database and pull back required information to show on the designated SharePoint pages. PSP also provided on-going support to NEBOSH for 12 months to ensure all encountered queries, upgrades and enhancements were covered with our exceptional aftercare services.
