Home working here to stay, study suggests

Home working here to stay, study suggests

The working-from-home uprising may be here for good with many directors saying they will allow their staff to be flexible even after the pandemic is over.

A survey of just under 1,000 firms by the Institute of Directors (IoD) shows that 74% plan on maintaining the increase in home working. More than half planned on reducing their long-term use of workplaces.

A smaller survey of bosses whose firms had already cut workplace use suggested 44% of them thought working from home was proving "more effective".

“One of the biggest challenges facing businesses who enforce remote working among their workplace is having agile technology which is capable of meeting the needs of the business,” said Joe Verde, CEO of PSP-IT.

“It is vital that managers ensure efficiency isn’t impacted and they can communicate with their team as they would if they were in the office.”

28% people 'less productive'

Research by McKinsey in June found that four out of five people liked working from home, with 41% saying they are more productive and just 28% saying they were less.

For those 28%, productivity can be improved through clever tools such as PSP’s VISION CRM, which brings all your business processes under one roof.

VISION’s Modules and Dashboards are fully customisable to suit your organisation.

On the IoD study, 26% of company directors said they had moved operations to digital platforms; 21% had moved products and services to digital platforms; and the same amount had been forced to create new products or services due to the pandemic.
