What does a BA do?

Business Analysts here at PSP are vital to everyday operations. They do things such as:

• Gathering Requirements from clients
• Drawing up specifications
• Looking at overall process flows
• Writing user stories to give developers an idea of how to implement a feature on a piece of software.

How do they analyse a business’s process?

By understanding the scope of what they’re doing, they can then speak to the relevant stakeholders and see how the future needs to look for you.

BA Manager Colin says, ”It’s about putting a box around what it is, identifying who you need to speak to, when you need to speak to them, and what you need to speak to them about”.

After this, typically a BA “maps out what the processes look like today, and how they need to look tomorrow”.

How do they implement the solutions that arise from the analysis?

The BA would then:

• Deliver user stories to developers.
• Take requirements for the future state.
• Writing the requirements into user storage formats so the development team knows what the solution should do.
