Are you responding to responsive?

Are you responding to responsive?

The online market continues to grow year on year, people buy online more than ever. Even if you do not have an ecommerce site more and more users are using the internet to look up a company website before using contacting them to buy. This is why a responsive and up to date website is imperative.

What is Responsive Web Design?

Responsive web design is a development approach that creates a website that will respond to the user’s size of the screen, whether this be a mobile, tablet or different size PC and laptop screens.

Below we outline some of the key benefits to look at when considering a responsive website and how this can boost your company’s image and sales.

Google recommends it = Improved SEO

Google highly recommend that you are using responsive web design as this will have a huge impact on your standing in Googles ranking. Google uses systems that will automatically detect if the website is responsive. Responsive websites will always send the same HTML code to all devices and a CSS is used to alter the websites design to accurately fit the users screen. Making this easy for google to index your website and therefore improving your ranking.

Increased Positive User experience

A responsive web design will allow your customer to view your webpage seamlessly on any device desired. The coding of a responsive website provides an optimal viewing experience by creating a site that reduces the user needing to zoom and scroll. Meaning a responsive website is easier to read and navigate. Sites load quickly without any distortions, so users have no need to manually resize anything to view content.

Lower Bounce back rate

The bounce back rate is if user’s visits your website, do they click onto another tab or do they ‘bounce back’ off of your site. When a user enters your website and finds the site is static you will have difficultly engaging the user. Therefore they are more likely to leave the site without investigating further, increasing your bounce back rate.

Speed

Having a responsive web page allows the page to load much quicker on a mobile or tablet. Additionally if the page is not optimized for tablet or mobile this will take the user much longer to navigate this, meaning they are more likely to lose interest and move onto the next site.

One site – reducing cost

Responsive means you will only need one webpage. Many companies opt for two websites, a mobile version and a web version. This can work out costly as two sites will need developing, hosting, SEO, updating content is required on both sites and general maintenance of both sites is required. Not only will this work out costly in comparison to a responsive website, this not take into consideration tablets or the different size PC screens.

Increased Traffic

It is no surprise that with over half of internet use is on a mobile or tablet that you will see an increase in traffic with a responsive site. Studies have found that people are using their mobiles and tables for over 4 hours a day, therefore by having a static website you are losing out on engaging with this audience.

Higher Conversion rates

An easy to use website improves the user experience, they are more likely to buy from you. This will prevent the user from turning to a competitor’s website which they find easier to navigate and more appealing to look at. A professional responsive website that works on all platforms will inevitably lead to more customers and higher conversion rates.
