Predicted Grades and Examination Resit Management


Adeptly adapting to the coronavirus crisis, PSP-IT recently modified a major client’s CRM and website to allow for calculated examination results and automatically assign personalised resit vouchers to unsuccessful students.

The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) has 200,000 members, and the innovative system was cleverly adapted by PSP-IT to ensure fairness and accuracy for all students whose exams were affected by the coronavirus.

We were particularly proud of the short turnaround time of concept to delivery after CIPS approached PSP with their desire to give candidates a result without sitting an exam. Having to agilely adapt to the impact of coronavirus, we remodelled and tested the system within three weeks to have minimal impact on the results dates.

CIPS calculated the result for eligible students, and our specialist team adjusted the system to allow the calculated result to flow from the CRM through to the member’s web portal.

"The coronavirus crisis created a global challenge for CIPS as we had exams booked in more than 53 countries with continually changing availability of exam venues. We decided to introduce calculated results with new systems and processes for managing the result management and re-sit process. Exam Resit Vouchers

Exam resit vouchers were sent to all students who failed based on CIPS’ algorithm or were ineligible for a calculated grade.

The voucher entitles the student to a free resit, ensuring that every pupil has a fair and equal opportunity during these challenging times for qualification bodies and candidates.

With the intention of saving time for the staff during these unique circumstances, the system automatically managed and sent all communications to students with their results and unique voucher codes which they could use to book an exam online.

With student communication and exam rebooking being controlled through the IT system, CIPS could focus on other areas of the organisation during the pandemic and maintain their consistently high level of candidate experience.
