The client faced a global challenge when their examinations were cancelled due to the pandemic. The organisations had exams booked in more than 50 countries and the availability of these venues was increasingly affected.

Because of this, they decided to introduce calculated grades for those students affected by the cancelled exams. By analysing candidate data, CIPS were able to generate a predicted grade for eligible students. 

The client required a solution that allowed unsuccessful candidates to book a resit at a venue of their choice free of charge.

With results calculations and exam resits being controlled through the IT system, CIPS could focus on other areas of the organisation during the pandemic and maintain their consistently high level of candidate experience.

The fully-automated system calculated the results for every student based on their history at the exam's level and emailed all students with the outcome of their grade.

Exam resit vouchers were automatically sent to all students who failed based on the algorithm or had insufficient history to have their grade calculated.

The vouchers entitles the student to a free resit, ensuring that every pupil has a fair and equal opportunity during what was a difficult time for awarding bodies and students.

With the intention of saving time for the staff during the unique circumstances, the system automatically managed and sent all communications to students with their results and voucher codes with up-to-date guidance.

Unsuccessful students - and those who did not have enough history to qualify for a predicted grade - could book a resit via the website using the unique voucher code that was issued to them.
