Skilfully adapting to the coronavirus crisis, PSP-IT built an intuitive calculated results system for CIPS- a global chartered institute. The system was integrated with their student portals, which meant all communications were sent straight to candidates and exam resit vouchers were automatically assigned to unsuccessful students.
The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) has more than 70,000 members, and the innovative system built by PSP ensured the results of the exams that were cancelled due to Covid-19 remained fair and accurate.
We were particularly proud of the short turnaround time of concept to delivery after CIPS approached PSP with their desire to give candidates a results without sitting an exam. Having to agilely adapt to the impact of coronavirus, we built and tested the system within three weeks to have minimal impact on results dates.
The client faced a global challenge when their examinations were cancelled due to the pandemic. The organisations had exams booked in more than 50 countries and the availability of these venues was increasingly affected.
Because of this, they decided to introduce calculated grades for those students affected by the cancelled exams. By analysing candidate data, CIPS were able to generate a predicted grade for eligible students.
The client required a solution that allowed unsuccessful candidates to book a resit at a venue of their choice free of charge.
We were particularly proud of the short turnaround time of concept to dlivery after CIPS approached PSP with their desire to give candidate a results without sitting an exam.
Having to agilely adapt to the impact of coronavirus, we built and tested the system within three weeks to have minimal impact on the results dates.
The project was rolled out across their global offices for their 70,000 members "seamlessly" and meant that their examinations were not affected after the closure of exam centres across the world.
With results calculations and exam resits being controlled through the IT system, CIPS could focus on other areas of the organisation during the pandemic and maintain their consistently high level of candidate experience.
The fully-automated system calculated the results for every student based on their history at the exam's level and emailed all students with the outcome of their grade.
Exam resit vouchers were automatically sent to all students who failed based on the algorithm or had insufficient history to have their grade calculated.
The vouchers entitles the student to a free resit, ensuring that every pupil has a fair and equal opportunity during what was a difficult time for awarding bodies and students.
With the intention of saving time for the staff during the unique circumstances, the system automatically managed and sent all communications to students with their results and voucher codes with up-to-date guidance.
Unsuccessful students - and those who did not have enough history to qualify for a predicted grade - could book a resit via the website using the unique voucher code that was issued to them.
"The Coronavirus created a global challenge for CIPS as we had exams booked in more than 53 countries with continually changing availability of exam venues. We decided to introduce calculated results with new systems and processes for managing the result management and re-sit process. We set PSP the challenge of modifying systems to accommodate the new ways of working. PSP delivered the solution within a very short time frame; within four weeks of our initial conversations. The experience for our global offices, study centres and students has been seamless."
