Furncare Move Into E-commerce World With PSP

After already supporting their legacy CRM system, PSP were asked to take over and complete the development of Furncare's new e-commerce website, which improved user journey and transformed their customers' online experience.

Furncare is a specialist in the design and manufacturing of first-class furniture and furnishings for the care home industry. They know how important a website can be to their customers. They wanted a website that was easy to use, looked great and provided their customers with the ability to purchase their furniture online using multiple payment methods.

Requirements

Both Furncare and its customers recognised the need to modernise their website, not just to improve the look and feel, but to improve the user journey and provide customers with multiple ways to pay online.

  • A responsive website across al devices
  • Incorporating their brand colours and logo
  • An easy to use curtain configurator that allows customers to build bespoke curtains
  • An easy to use configurator that lets users create bespoke dining chairs, sofas, lounge chairs and more
  • E-commerce website linked to Stripe payments to allow customers to place orders
  • Ability to offer discounts to specific customers
  • Ability to allow certain customer accounts to pay using purchase orders

Solution

PSP IT Design & Development Ltd already supports Furncare's legacy CRM system, and now Furncare approached PSP to take over and complete the development of a new responsive e-commerce website in WordPress.

This project kicked off at the beginning of July with a go-live date of mid-September. After full end-to-end extensive testing and PSP was confident that we had met our client’s expectations PSP handed the development over to Furncare the second week of August for content population and testing review.

Our Approach

To achieve these timescales PSP’s approach to this project was to break down the work tasks into work packets. Each area of the website that required development was given its own work packet, these were then assigned to a developer and then to a QA tester. This approach means PSP were able to easily track the progress of the project by the number of work packets completed, in testing, and ready for UAT.

The website was developed using the WordPress CMS platform, which allowed PSP to take advantage of features such as out-of-the box functionality and plugins while also creating custom code for unique requirements.

WordPress Site With Bespoke Functionality

Furncare is taking its customers on an exciting journey of e-commerce convenience. The site makes it simple for customers to register, administrators then receive an email to approve the customer. Once approved, users can log in, place orders with just a few clicks of their mouse and track their orders or keep their shipping and billing address up to date.

Additional functionality around discounts and the ability to purchase without having to enter card details was also added, as well as specific logic for managing quite complex delivery rate options that are based on postcode, and different rules around product types being in the basket.
